despite its difficulties, the FCG is also thinking about next season

Grenoble did not expect to still have to fight for its survival in Pro D2 in March, and if the FCG is entirely focused on the maintenance operationthe club is also preparing for the future, intensifying its recruitment and building its workforce for next season.

Hopes kept

Launched in a project built around training, the FCG has above all tried to keep its best promises. A mission accomplished since many young people have signed up until 2024 or 2025. Régis Montagne, Enzo Camilleri, Elie Eglaine, Mathis Sarragallet, Yanis Gimenez, Victor Guillaumond, and Romain Fusier are all children of the club, often seen this season in the first team, they are both the present and the future of the FCG. “I take it as proof of trust on their part, they understood that they had a story to live together, that they were in a club that trusts them“explains manager Fabien Gengenbacher.

Grenoble has also extended the contract of several of its executives, such as Lucas Dupont, Antonin Berruyer and Eric Escande.

Two major departures

Overall the FCG has kept almost all the players it wanted to keep even if two of the best Grenoble players will play next season in the Top 14. The center Adrien Seguret (former under-20 world champion) will fly to Castreswhile the nugget Angel Capuozzo (retained in the Italian group for the 6 Nations tournament) will go to Toulouse. Two departures which are recorded even if nothing has yet been formalized.

Manage my choices

FCG yesterday announced the name of its third recruit, Atu Manu, who has already been loaned to the club this season. Before the Tongan winger or center, Grenoble had hired a center, Terrence Hepetema, and above all Stade Français number 8 Talalelei Gray. A player with more than 100 games in the Top 14, a tough guy, a good catch for the Grenoble leaders. Proof that despite the club’s situation, the FCG can still be attractive, “it is on that the situation of the club questions the players that we target“, assumes Fabien Gengenbacher, “but the exchange is more global. We don’t hide the difficulties we encounter but force and see that the players we have targeted so far we have followed in the project“. Recruitment often accompanied by clauses and which will only be effective if they remain in Pro D2.
