In a press release published on Wednesday, Soccer Canada said that 13 teams will participate in the tournament, including CS Mont-Royal Outremont, a formation of the Premier League of soccer of Quebec.
Ten of these 13 teams will take part in the first round, between May 10 and 12. CF Montreal, Toronto FC and Pacific FC of the Canadian Premier League will advance directly to the quarter-final round, scheduled for May 24-26.
The semi-finals will take place from June 21 to 23 and the final will follow in July, on a date to be specified later.
Soccer Canada also announced that an official draw will be held on March 9. This draw will determine whether CF Montreal will play its quarter-final match at home or on the road.
The winners of the 2022 Canadian Championship will lift the Voyageurs Cup and qualify for the 2023 annual Concacaf Champions League international tournament.
In addition, Soccer Canada has announced that the final of the 2020 edition of the Canadian Championship between Hamilton’s Forge FC and Toronto FC will be played on June 4 in Hamilton. This final had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
