Emmanuel Macron will address the French in a televised speech about the war in Ukraine, Wednesday March 2, at 8 p.m., announces the Elysée. Last Thursday, at the launch of the Russian invasion, the Head of State “had made a commitment to keep the French informed of the evolution of the situation”added the presidency, without further comment.

The Elysée makes no mention of a possible declaration of candidacy for the presidential election. The outgoing president has until Friday, 6 p.m., to announce it.
This announcement comes at the end of a Defense Council devoted to the conflict, convened by the Head of State on Wednesday morning with five ministers: Jean-Yves Le Drian (Foreign Affairs), Barbara Pompili (Ecological Transition), Bruno Le Mayor (Economy) Florence Parly (Armies) and Gérald Darmanin (Interior).
