The journalist from France Télévisions present in Ukraine gives us the feeling of the population who entered into resistance and met in Dnipro, in the east of the country.

“The Ukrainians are terribly ready to fight for months, years if necessary, against the Russian enemy. The mobilization of the population is impressive”, thus reported Maryse Burgot from Ukraine, joined on Tuesday March 1 by telephone to answer questions on Twitch from viewers of the live #OnVousRépond devoted to the war in Ukraine.

The special envoy was present at Dnipro and came with her team to sign a report on the volunteers who make hundreds of Molotov cocktails every day to organize resistance. “They are lawyers, masons, teachers… we met a school principal who set up a clandestine workshop of Molotov cocktails, a real industry. It’s David against Goliath but it illustrates the will pegged to the body and in the heart not to give up”.

An unprecedented situation for the journalist. “This mobilization of civilians, this effervescence, this fervor, I’ve never seen that before (in other conflicts). They are women, men, it’s really striking. Vladimir Putin will find in front of him a population that will not back down because it is determined.”

Maryse Burgot also described the reality of her job on site.“What often prevents us from advancing are the Russian troops and the bombardments, automatic weapon fire. This is the difficulty of informing and always evaluating the risks we are taking.” Etienne Leehardt, head of the international service, and Linh-Lan Dao, investigator at “Révélateurs”, the editorial office’s image verification unit, also shared how they are currently working.
