A center dedicated to “cold cases”, old unsolved criminal cases, is opening today in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine). New hope for many families affected by disappearances, such as that of Marie-Hélène Audoye, who vanished on the Côte d’Azur on May 21, 1991.
Marie-Hélène Audoye disappeared on May 21, 1991, 30 years ago. It vanished, without leaving the slightest trace, on the Côte d’Azur. Pharmacy representative, she had an appointment that day in Monaco. From the principality, Marie-Hélène had to go to Briançon (Hautes-Alpes), a long and winding road. The 22-year-old has not been heard from again, and her car has never been found.
An investigation has been opened for the disappearance. The judicial police finally saw the case withdrawn, in favor of the gendarmerie. Léopold Dol, former captain of the gendarmerie, then reactivated the thesis of a crime of passion. A track that did not succeed, for lack of evidence. In 2013, justice ordered a dismissal, and the investigation stopped. His mother and his lawyer are now clinging to one hope: a reopening of the investigation by the judicial pole responsible for studying again old unsolved cases.
