The Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI) is seeking to elucidate the case of a man injured during a police intervention on Monday in Montreal.
Police officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) were called around 7 p.m. to intervene to precede the arrest of an individual for domestic violence.
The man allegedly refused to cooperate with the authorities, the BEI said in a statement.
While waiting for an entry warrant, the police saw traces of blood through the window, before opening the door of the residence to find that the man was injured.
Transported to a hospital by the police, the man, whose age is not known, was still in serious condition, according to the BEI press release.
Five BEI investigators have been tasked with investigating the circumstances of this police intervention, it was added.
