These seven new deaths have very little effect on the daily average of COVID mortality, which remains around 17 on Monday. The trend is thus down 24% over a period of one week.

In the health network, there is a drop of ten hospitalizations on Monday, which translates into 59 new entries and 69 exits. To date, 1,446 COVID patients are still hospitalized, of which 94 are in intensive care, a drop of four cases in 24 hours on this plan (7 entries, 11 exits).

A sign that this downward trend should continue, the National Institute of Excellence in Health and Social Services (INESSS) predicted last week that the number of COVID hospitalizations should reach the bar of 1,200 occupied beds by the end of the year. half-March.

There are also 845 new cases of COVID-19, which brings the weekly average in this regard to 1,345, which also follows a downward trend of approximately 24% over a period of one week. However, it should be remembered that the limits imposed on screening have made the data related to infections much less representative for a few weeks already.

Earlier on Saturday, Public Health nevertheless carried out 12,907 screening tests, a relatively stable figure compared to the average. The provincial positivity rate is currently 7.2%. The number of active outbreaks also decreased, from 691 to 684.

So far, more than 97,350 rapid tests have been “self-declared” on the Legault government platform, the vast majority of which, nearly 75,900 of them, had a positive diagnosis of COVID-19.

On the vaccination side, the Quebec campaign continues to slow down rapidly. On Saturday, just 8,375 additional doses of vaccine were administered, to which are added 73 vaccines given before February 24 which had not yet been officially counted. Of the total, 6274 were third doses, while 1635 second doses were administered, and 288 first doses.

For now, nearly 87% of the Quebec population has received at least one dose and nearly 82.5% now has two doses. The proportion of Quebecers who have received their booster dose has not yet reached the 50% mark, but this should be done in the coming days.

To date, more than 18.7 million doses have been received by Quebecers, including those vaccinated outside the province.
