Sepp Straka got his pass to go to Georgia in a few weeks. He will participate in the Masters Tournament after having managed a superb comeback to win the Honda Classic.

Straka was five strokes behind the leader going into the final round of the tournament. He birdied the last pennant, in the rain, to beat Irishman Shane Lowry by one shot and thereby become the first Austrian to win a tournament on the PGA Tour. He turned in 66 (minus-4) on Sunday to finish 10 under par and claim the $1.44 million prize pool.
Lowry went 67 (-3) for the third straight round and finished nine under par. Daniel Berger – who held a six-stroke lead with 19 holes to go in the tournament – was in a tailspin on Sunday. He turned over a 74 (plus-4) card to take fourth position, three strokes behind Straka.
Lowry needed to putt from 45 feet to get the birdie and force overtime. It was a failure. The Honda Classic has therefore crowned a new champion – a player who started the tournament at 176and world rank and who had never broken into the top-100. His greatest achievement to date was leading after the first round at the Tokyo Olympics last summer.
He is now a PGA Tour Champion.
“In the third round, I wasn’t at my best,” Straka said. I held on and managed to play some good rounds afterwards. I hit the ball really well today and was able to take advantage of it. »
Adam Svensson was the top Canadian at the tournament. He took the 9th rung, eight shots behind Straka. Among the other Canadians in the running, Nick Taylor and Taylor Pendrith finished 16th and 25th respectively.
