Bounsound denounces the intimidation towards Safia Nolin

Worried by the incessant stream of hateful comments and threats that artist Safia Nolin has been receiving for the past two years, her record company Bonsound came to her defense on Thursday by asking columnists Richard Martineau and Sophie Durocher to stop ” intimidate”.

“We ask you today to show your humanity and consider the impact your words and actions have on the mental health and safety of Safia. [Nolin] Bonsound publicly asked in a post on his social media. This message was addressed directly to the columnists of the Montreal Journal Richard Martineau and Sophie Durocher, as well as to their employer, Quebecor.

The record company accuses them of fueling this hatred towards Safia Nolin by continuing to publish chronicles aimed at intimidating her at the “slightest comment she makes”, and this, by placing themselves “under the guise of the text of ‘opinion’.

Bonsound recalls that the singer-songwriter receives “at an alarming frequency” hateful messages going as far as death threats.

In interview with The duty last May, Safia Nolin confided in this subject, recounting the insults and threats she received on a daily basis. She had even indicated that she was sometimes “afraid for [sa] security” while this surge of hatred has overflowed from her digital life to manifest itself in “the real world” since she denounced the actions of actress Maripier Morin on Instagram in July 2020. She made particular reference to the hateful graffiti whose it is the subject across Montreal.

This public release of Bonsound comes the day after a new column by Sophie Durocher about Safia Nolin. In this text entitled “Appoint Safia Nolin Minister of Justice! “the columnist criticizes the artist for having criticized Star Academy for inviting Patrick Bruel to his set last Sunday. The French singer has been targeted by allegations of sexual misconduct and has been the subject of a preliminary investigation by French justice. However, the investigation was closed without further action in December 2020.

Further details will follow.
