Receiving Ukrainian refugees promises to be a challenge for Europeans. From Brussels, journalist Julien Gasparutto provides details.

Europe is preparing to welcome Ukrainian refugees. “The 27 Heads of State and Government will discuss this tonight, as they clearly expect a massive influx of Ukrainians in the coming days”, says journalist Julien Gasparutto, live from Brussels (Belgium). The day before, Wednesday February 23, the American ambassador to the UN mentioned “the possibility that up to 5 million people could be displaced as a result of this military invasion”continues the journalist.

“Refugees are welcome”, declared, without ambiguity, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. To accommodate them, action plans have been defined in the frontline countries, such as Poland, Romania and Slovakia, as well as in Hungary. The objective of the European summit which is being held on the evening of February 24 is to coordinate the reception, and “to see how other countries can help”concludes Julien Gasparutto.
