Crisis in Ukraine: the West increases sanctions against Russia

Several Western countries have announced sanctions against Russia. The United States thus no longer authorizes the Russian State to finance its debt to the United States. The British have sanctioned the banks. For its part, the European Union has announced that it will freeze the assets and visas of deputies who voted to recognize the separatist regions.

The region of Donbass is deprived of investments and commercial exchanges with the United States. Germany, for its part, suspended the giant Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project it had with Russia. For the experts, these financial sanctions are mainly intended to transfer the conflict to the economic field. And they are only a first step: Europe as well as the United States have already warned that in the event of an invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the sanctions would be much more restrictive.
