“Closer to 3 million than 2 million” Quebecers would have caught COVID-19 during the Omicron wave, according to the latest estimates from Public Health.
Between 35% and 40% of children have been in contact with COVID-19 in recent weeks, reports Dr. Luc Boileau, who also speaks of variable proportions according to age. It is based on an analysis by the CHU Sainte-Justine published on Wednesday.
The acting national director of public health, Luc Boileau, holds a press briefing at 2 p.m. Wednesday to take stock of the situation of COVID-19 in Quebec. He will be joined by Assistant Deputy Minister Lucie Opatrny and Senior Strategic Medical Advisor Marie-France Raynault.
Mr. Boileau appears before the press the day after Quebec’s decision to allow elementary and high school students to no longer wear masks in class, as soon as they return from spring break. He will certainly have to give more details on this subject, and on a possible more general plan for the removal of the mask.
Further details will follow.
