What can we expect from Montpellier handball players this Wednesday evening in Kiel?
The victory against the German club 37-30, during the 3rd day of the Champions League remains the reference match for Montpellier handball players. Except that it was in September 2021, since and until today Montpellier is living a difficult season, as proof of the last two defeats in a row against Vardar Skopje in the Champions League and Saturday at Creteil in the league.
Even if coach Patrice Canayer does not want to hide behind this excuse, the team is diminished with many injuriesespecially in his back base (Wallinius, Duarte, Moscariello, Gudmundson and Nacinovic are back for Kiel).
Montpellier under fire from critics
President Julien Deljarry immediately after the defeat in Creteil had scathing words on his twitter account : “mediocre match… sad performance.”, critics also of the supporters.
“When you lose in Créteil, that you are criticized, it’s normal, but let’s not accept it as inevitable, let’s show that we know how to react.” Patrice Canayer
The Montpellier coach believes that since the recovery, concentration and investment are more present, they have made it possible to win three victories but “we are not immune to a relapse.”
How does the team deal with this situation?
“We are unhappy, I am unhappy, the players are unhappy, the President is unhappy, yes there is frustration, disappointment but what must take precedence is the strength to move forward.”
Touched by criticism from supporters, captain Valentin Porte published a message on the Blue Fox facebook page calling on the supporters to be behind the team.
“We need your unwavering support and positive thoughts to help us perform.” Valentin Porte/ Blue Fox supporters
