In category “1 p.m. in France”, France Télévisions presents a great initiative which is multiplying everywhere in France: farmers replant trees with young. It also helps to create a bond between young and old. The 13 Hours followed one of these plantations in the Yvelines.
Nearly 90 sixth-grade students came to plant trees in the Ferme des Clos (Yvelines). The objective is to form a hedge of 400 trees in order to protect the farm. “It allows me to have a better harvest of flowers, fruits, and it possibly protects poultry farming“, explains Johann Laskowskifarm farmer.
It is also a means of educating these young citizens in ecology. To achieve the objectives of the Paris agreements, 25,000 kilometers of hedges should be planted each year. In practice, however, they are losing ground, often to the benefit of agricultural land. La Ferme des Clos is a shared farm that practices agroforestry, which means planting trees among crops and animals in order to develop an ecosystem. This year, the associative actions will make it possible to plant nearly 10,000 trees throughout the territory.
