In Châtellerault, in Vienne, since June 2020, Olivier’s company has recycled 25 million used masks throughout France to make new objects. The masks are first disinfected using UV rays. They are then crushed to make confetti, which is transformed into a long thread of dough, cut into small plastic balls. This new material is finally melted and molded to make new objects. “We have a whole catalog of objects, we do lots of different things, we make ashtrays, we make pencil holders, we make photo holders“, explains Oliver.
In its early days, the company collected the masks itself. Now individuals and businesses can send them directly for recycling. “We have hundreds of small SMEs, craftsmen, traders, medical practices, dental practices, who play the game, hairdressers… who order their box and who also participate in recycling at their level“, rejoices Olivier.
