Here are the racist remarks launched against Belfort players by Beaune Handball supporters during a National 1 meeting this Saturday, indicates Beaune municipal councilor Carole Bernhard, in a Facebook post. “I am ashamed of these Beaunois supporters. You do honor neither to our club nor to our city“, continues Carole Bernhard.
The perpetrators are identified and will be sanctioned
The chosen one then contacted the president of Beaune Handball, a club who communicated in the evening. “During the match of this Saturday, February 19, comments were reported to us (….). Inappropriate racist remarks were made against Belfort players by individuals supporting Beaune Handball.“The club announces that it is dissociating itself “statements that may have been made and supports the players concerned. These statements, contrary to the values advocated by Beaune Handball, have nothing to do with sport.”
According to the club’s press release, the authors of the remarks have been identified“Beaune Handball undertakes to firmly sanction the latter. Beaune Handball condemns these remarks which are not to be taken lightly.”
For its part, the Belfort club is considering filing a complaint. The president of the Bauhb must convene this Monday an extraordinary meeting of the director’s office “to see what decision to consider, what follow-up to give to these events and provide an appropriate response, which could go as far as filing a complaint.”, he tells France Bleu Belfort-Montbéliard, specifying that the players on the ground did not hear the insults.
