The calm after the storm is not for now. The day after the passage of storm Eunice and its exceptional gusts, with a record of 176 km/h recorded at Cap Gris Nez, the winds will always be strong, these Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 February. Meteo France announces gusts over 100 km/h in the evening. Nord and Pas-de-Calais are always placed in yellow vigilance.
Two violent episodes
“This Saturday evening, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., we expect gusts between 90 and 110 km / h on the coast of Hauts-De-France“, details Meteo France. It is Sunday night that the windy episode will be the most important, with gusts up to 120 km/h inland.
“The risk of vortex phenomena (gust front, tornado) is not ruled out“, warns AgateMétéo, which ensures that our two departments could go back to orange alert on Sunday evening.
Concern after Eunice
These new disruptions are particularly worrying, as storm Eunice caused major material damage and that structures and plants have been weakened.
This Friday, more than 7,000 calls were recorded and more than 3,000 interventions were carried out by firefighters. The human toll is 33 injured, including 8 in serious condition due to falling objects, blown away by strong winds.
