The order books of the Nexter company in Roanne are insured at least until 2030. Jean Castex visits this Saturday, February 19 the site of this French flagship of armaments. The Prime Minister formalizes the signing of an order for several hundred armored vehicles and mobile guns for a value of 1.257 billion euros, as well as a contract of 600 million euros to renew equipment already used by the Army earthen.
One billion 857 million euros of order
In detail, 302 Griffon armored vehicles, 88 Jaguars and 54 MEPAC Griffons (on-board mortars for contact support) will be assembled in the coming years on the Roanne site. The second contract also provides for the manufacture of 33 new generation Caesar guns, and the renovation of 76 of these machines already in service.
600 jobs created in Roannais in two years
These orders come within the framework of the Scorpion program, which aims to renew the equipment of the French army. The 2019-2023 military programming law provides for the acceleration of Scorpion; it has already enabled the creation of 600 jobs in Roanne in two years according to Matignon. The local CGT delegate speaks of a thousand permanent hires at Nexter to ensure production.
