The movements continue, Thursday, February 17, in the Formula 1 teams as the start of the 2022 season approaches. A month after announcing the departure of its executive director Marcin Budkowski, BWT Alpine has formalized the arrival of a new director in the person of Otmar Szafnauer. The American arrives at the same time as Bruno Famin, engineer in charge of the engine department for the season.

Szafnauer held the position of director of the Force India team, which became Racing Point Force India, in 2018, then Aston Martin F1 Team, in 2020, from 2009 to 2021. The 57-year-old American intends to bring his experience, more than 33 years, in the world of motorsports. A known face in the paddock, he will work alongside Frenchman Laurent Rossi, president of the team.
The new director said to be “delighted to join BWT Alpine F1 Team and ready to work with everyone to take up the challenge: to bring the team to fight for the Championship in the next 100 races. My attention is focused on preparing for the start of the season in Bahrain.
