Creating dark-looking versions to give vehicles more character is a popular trend in the automotive industry. At Nissan, the Minuit Edition plays this role. For the 2022 model year, the Sentra and Altima sedans benefit from it, not to mention the Murano and Armada SUVs.
In the case of the former, the Minuit Edition is exclusive to the SR version with continuously variable gearbox. Offered from $25,498, freight and preparation not included, it is the most expensive of the Sentra with the exception of the SR Prime.
It sports unique 18-inch black alloy wheels along with black trim on the grille, exterior mirrors and rear spoiler. The headlight and taillight surrounds are also darkened, a special badging adorns the trunk and a black rear diffuser completes the whole thing.
There are no other extras, let alone mechanical changes, which explains the barely $600 extra over a regular Sentra SR. Note that the only body colors available are Intense Black, Aspen White and Gunpowder Grey, the latter two with a contrasting black roof.
As for its big sister, the Nissan Altima, the Minuit Edition gets essentially the same treatment, except that the wheels measure 19 inches in diameter. A choice of Intense Black, Powder Gray and Pearl White Tri-Coat paint finishes are available. Inside, there are black sport cloth seats with orange contrast stitching.
With a price tag of $32,698, you have to shell out $2,600 more than the lower trim, an Altima SE that lacks LED fog lights, a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, starter remote control and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Let’s mention in closing that the Nissan Altima will receive a mid-term update for 2023. That said, the changes should not be major apart from some aesthetic revisions.
