F1 | Otmar Szafnauer appointed Alpine team manager

(Paris) The American Otmar Szafnauer has been appointed director of the Alpine team and the Frenchman Bruno Famin general manager, announced Thursday the French team in full reorganization.

Posted at 12:14 p.m.

Under the leadership of its president Laurent Rossi, Alpine (ex-Renault) continues its restructuring after separating from its executive director Marcin Budkowski and non-executive, former driver Alain Prost.

Approached for several months, Szafnauer had left his post as general manager of Aston Martin at the beginning of January. The 57-year-old leader had been present within the structure (ex-Force India and ex-Racing Point) for twelve years.

Szafnauer will be accompanied in the organization chart by Bruno Famin, as general manager, who until now was director of operations for the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

In addition, the Italian Davide Brivio, former successful manager of Suzuki in MotoGP who arrived last year at Alpine, remains in his post as director of competition projects.

After the coronation of Max Verstappen (Red Bull) in 2021, the Formula 1 season is due to restart on March 20 in Bahrain for a record calendar of 23 Grands Prix.
