The Canadian men’s curling team led by Brad Gushue lost its semi-final match against Sweden on Thursday morning by a score of 5-3.

Canada would have liked to reclaim its lost Olympic title in 2018, but Niklas Edin’s Swedish team had other plans.
The match had started smoothly for both teams. They studied each other for quite a while and remained quite conservative throughout the game.
Nose to nose until the very end, Sweden were opportunistic and protected the house well when the time came. On the Canadian side, Gushue and his gang were not opportunistic enough, especially when they had the hammer. Nevertheless, the two teams had a good duel, but as in the preliminary rounds, Sweden had the best.
After the preliminary rounds, Sweden, which sits at the top of the world rankings, finished in second place with a 7-2 record. Canada was right behind with a 5-4 record.
Canada will face Team USA for the bronze medal.
Gushue won gold in Turin in 2006. Since then, Canada has been crowned in 2010 and 2014, but could not reach the podium in 2018. The Americans are the reigning Olympic champions.
