The Jets have a 6-3 edge over the Wild
Mark Scheifele scored the fifth hat trick of his career and had an assist to propel the Winnipeg Jets to a 6-3 win over the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday.
Scheifele extended his streak with at least one goal to five while his captain, Blake Wheeler, had four assists.
Cole Perfetti, Kyle Connor and Paul Stastny also rocked the ropes for the Jets (20-19-8) who played the game in front of 12,527 fans at Canada Life Centre. About 3,000 spectators were missing for the first game of the Jets without fan limits to sell out.
Connor Hellebuyck stopped 33 shots in the win.
His counterpart, Cam Talbot made 25 saves for the Wild.
Joel Eriksson Ek, Mats Zuccarello and Dmitry Kulikov scored for the Wild (30-12-3) who lost their flag for only the third time in their last 14 meetings (11-2-1). Kirill Kaprizov had two assists.

Reinhart and Ekblad steal overtime win from Hurricanes

Sam Reinhart scored in the last minute of the third period to force an extra period, then Aaron Ekblad broke away 16 seconds into overtime to steal a 3-game win for the Florida Panthers. -2 on the Carolina Hurricanes, Wednesday night.
It was quite a turnaround that fans witnessed in this duel between the two best teams in the Eastern Conference in terms of winning percentage. It was also the Panthers’ first game in over two weeks due to the All-Star Game hiatus.
Aleksander Barkov scored the other goal for the Panthers in the second period with a masterful one-on-one fake to get past the defender before beating the goalie with a backhand shot.
The Panthers are on a streak going into 2022. They notched a team-high 12 wins in January, in addition to scoring an impressive 74 goals, the most goals scored in a single month by an NHL team in 26 years.
Teuvo Teräväinen and Tony DeAngelo scored for the Hurricanes as Frederik Andersen blocked 28 shots in net. Sergei Bobrovsky earned the victory with 16 saves.
Since the break, the Hurricanes have lost three of their four games, all played on the road.
Jonathan Huberdeau got an assist on Barkov’s goal to extend his streak to five straight games with at least one assist. His 64 points in 47 games is a new team record.

The Flames have no mercy for the Ducks

The Calgary Flames saw the first spark ignite in the fifth minute of play Wednesday night, and the blaze continued to grow from there. Scoring two goals per period, they easily disposed of the Anaheim Ducks 6-2.
Four Flames players finished the game with three points: Johnny Gaudreau (one goal, two assists), Matthew Tkachuk (one goal, two assists), Elias Lindholm (two goals, one assist) and Rasmus Andersson (three assists).
Dillon Dube and Andrew Mangiapane also found the back of the net for the Flames, who have won their last eight games. Jacob Markström stopped 26 shots.
On the Ducks side, the reply came from Sonny Milano and Isac Lundestrom. He also got an assist. In goal, John Gibson gave up four times on 20 shots before giving way to Anthony Stolarz who blocked 21 shots.
In the win Lindholm extended his one-goal streak to six. Lindholm and Gaudreau have had at least one point in the last eight games.
The Flames (28-13-6) sit atop the Pacific Division.
