Netflix names Tara Woodbury for Canadian content

(Toronto) The executive producer of the hospital television series Transplant, Tara Woodbury, has just been recruited by the Netflix platform as head of Canadian content.

According to what was reported by the California online content giant, Mme Woodbury will take up his duties in the Toronto office later this month. In addition to his work on Transplant, the producer also contributed to the production of the indigenous apocalyptic film Night raiders.

The new head of Canadian content will be tasked with developing and launching original series in French and English written for Netflix in Canada.

She will also have to maintain relationships with writers, directors and producers across the country, in addition to identifying young talent in the industry.

Prior to joining Netflix, Tara Woodbury, who grew up in Winnipeg, was Vice President of Development at Sphere Media in Toronto.

She will work under the supervision of Canadian Series Director at Netflix Canada, Danielle Woodrow.

In February, Netflix announced that it was planning to open an office in Canada, touting the initiative as “a big first step” towards creating content in the country.

In April, the company announced that Toronto would be the designated location for its Canadian offices, two years after setting up a production center in the city.

The company said at the time that its priority was to hire a person responsible for Canadian content to work closely with the creators.
