He has Thomas Pesquet at the boot

To celebrate the return of their ambassador Thomas Pesquet, Stade Toulousain asked LBT Sneakers (Le Bottier Toulousain Sneakers) to create a unique pair of sneakers bearing the image of the astronaut. It is by joining forces with various local players from the aerospace industry such as Comat, Héméria or the Cité de l’espace that the Space Jordan 1 was able to see the light of day. The design of the Space Jordan 1 was developed with the Stade Toulousain, which was able to exchange directly with Thomas Pesquet when he was on a mission in the ISS. The main particularity of this pair is its construction. It is indeed composed of several materials from the aerospace field, graciously provided by our partners. It includes, for example, textiles used for astronaut suits (Betacloth) or satellite insulation (MLI).

The use of these unconventional materials required a lot of effort and ingenuity from the LBT Sneakers team. No less than 100 hours of work were needed to complete the manufacture of the pair. This includes the sourcing of materials, exchanges with partners, design, patronage, prototyping and finally final manufacturing. Several hours were notably necessary to test the different reactions of the materials with each other and to ensure that the final product would be 100% portable. Two logos have been added to the original outsole, using a process never before seen in France.

The shoe

Comat, which took part in this project by supplying space materials, was also in charge of creating a unique custom-made box. As a reminder, Comat is the company that manufactured the transport box for the blobs during Thomas Pesquet’s last mission to the ISS. The packaging was modeled and then printed in 3D. We find the logo of each actor of the project (caps and strap). LBT Sneakers, the sneakers branch of the Le Bottier Toulousain workshop, made up of Nicolas and Jean-Emmanuel, combines a passion for sneakers and shoemaking know-how to offer original, tailor-made and hand-made creations.
