No hesitation for Larissa Corriveau

Having already collaborated with Denis Côté for Directory of disappeared towns and Social hygieneLarissa Corriveau did not hesitate before accepting the proposal made to her by the filmmaker to play in A summer like this. “The first time he told me about it, he told me it was a special project, explained the actress during a press conference. As I have known Denis for several years, I have great confidence in him. If an unknown director had described a project like this to me before I had even written a screenplay, I would have said no. But with Denis, I had no doubt that the subject was going to go beyond the simple anecdote on sexuality to go towards something deeper. I didn’t hesitate and I don’t regret it either. With this film, we are really anti-porn, whereas today we are surrounded daily by all kinds of pornography, not just sexual. »

Known until now as a screenwriter (he won the Oscar for best adaptation in 2015 thanks to The Imitation Game), Graham Moore signs with The Outfit his first feature film as a director. Starring the always excellent Mark Rylance, this gangster film takes us back to the Chicago of the 1950s, as frozen in the collective imagination thanks to the cinema. Mark Rylance plays an exceptional British tailor who has settled in the Windy City after experiencing a personal tragedy. The clothes he makes to measure are so distinct that his clientele is practically only made up of those who can afford to buy them: members of the underworld. Hungry for discretion, the tailor nevertheless finds himself stuck in a case that will take on an unsuspected scale after the visit to his business by two killers. Nothing really new under the sun, but this feature film stands out above all thanks to its style. Presented out of competition in the Berlinale Special Gala section, The Outfit hits theaters in Quebec on March 18.
