A great uneasiness took place at the police station of the fifth and sixth arrondissements of Paris. One of the police officers unknowingly left a sexist message on the answering machine of a woman who had just filed a sexual assault complaint. The policeman is suspended and theIGPN has been entered.
The assault allegedly took place in early February in a lively district of Paris. Leaving a pub, a 34-year-old woman said she was sexually assaulted in the street by a passerby. She immediately lodged a complaint at a police station. The alleged attacker is arrested and taken into custody. Everything is going according to the rules.
But the next day, another official calls the victim and leaves him a message on his answering machine. The policeman is convinced to have hung up after his message, but the recording continues on the answering machine of the alleged victim. The official reads the complaint aloud and comments with a colleague: “Obviouslyshe refuses confrontation. She’s really a whore, as if by chance”. For the lawyer of the young woman, these insults are unbearable. The victim was heard by the police on the morning of Tuesday, February 15.
