Opponents of health measures, but not only. Thousands of French people are mobilizing for their purchasing power through this movement called “freedom convoy”. They were in the capital on the afternoon of Saturday February 12.

The forces of order were present in number and, however, this did not dissuade them from demonstrating, despite a ban from the police headquarters. Several hundred participants in the “freedom convoy” invaded the Place de l’Étoile as well as the Champs-Elysees in Paris. Immediate response from the police with tear gas and 44 arrests in total.

The ban on assembly was applied strictly. It is incomprehensible for the demonstrators. Do you find it normal that today we are prevented from driving on the Champs-Élysées? (…) I come to defend my freedoms”disputes a demonstrator. Earlier in the morning, near 3,000 vehicles came from all over France to approach Paris. A family traveled more than 600 km to “recover their freedoms and their purchasing power”. Another convoy from the east attempted to enter the capital, but was quickly blocked by law enforcement.
