The downward trend continued in Quebec, which recorded nearly 100 fewer hospitalizations on Friday.

The data published Friday by Santé Québec show 2,214 hospitalizations (-98), of which 164 are in intensive care (-9). Since the start of the pandemic, 13,656 Quebecers have lost their lives due to COVID-19 (+36).
La Belle Province also has 2,662 new infections among those who have access to screening centers. In the last 24 hours, 753 rapid tests have been declared on the platform set up by the government. Of these, 560 were positive.
On the Ontario side, the situation continues to improve in hospitals, with 1,829 beds occupied (-68), including 435 in intensive care (-10). The province has recorded 50 additional SARS-CoV2-related deaths.
As in Quebec, access to PCR tests is limited in Ontario. As a result, the province recorded 2,907 new cases of COVID-19 using these tests.
Manitoba deconfines
In Manitoba, the deconfinement is in full swing as the province will move into the yellow zone as of February 15. Thus, restaurants and performance halls will be able to operate at full capacity. “It is through the collective effort of Manitobans that we are able to move forward and lift restrictions again,” said Premier Heather Stefanson. Manitoba plans to lift vaccine passport requirements as of May 1er March 2022.
In its report on Friday, the province recorded 673 new COVID-19 infections as well as three deaths.
On the side of the Atlantic provinces, the data also show new cases and some deaths. The provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador (+267 cases) and New Brunswick (+359 cases) recorded two and four deaths respectively. However, no deaths have been observed in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, which have 389 and 204 new cases.
