Victim of a stroke at birth, Grégory Moyen is hemiplegic. But that does not prevent him from being a great sportsman. Half-marathons, marathons, events of more than 250 kilometers… He has participated in more than 180 races in 55 countries.
Grégory Moyen has been hemiplegic since birth, that is to say paralyzed in one part of his body. However, this does not prevent him from running everywhere. His latest feat: he completed a Bordeaux-Paris race, 600 kilometers in 12 days. What he likes so much about running is “that people don’t see me as disabled, they see me as Grégory the athlete”, he says. In middle school, he was bullied by other young people, criticized and teased, but things improved in high school. Grégory was finally considered by those around him. “The students were well informed about my disability”he says.
“Disability is not an obstacle”
Then when I left school, finding a job turned out to be very difficult. Grégory then decides to write a book, which will open doors for him. Today, he regularly intervenes in high schools to convey this message: “disability is not an obstacle to living in an inclusive society”. The athlete is also fighting against government measures that are close to his heart, such as the revaluation of pensions for disabled adults.
