“How is it that Spider-Man: No Way Home didn’t get one of the 10 Best Picture nominations? Kimmel asked on air. It was a great movie. It was not in the top 10 of the best films of the year? ! There were three Spider Men inside. You tell me that Don’t Look Up was better than Spiderman ? Certainly not ! »

Kimmel then questioned that Best Picture nominees have to be “serious” movies? “Since when is that a requirement for an Oscar nomination?” Want to know what happened? Voters looked at the list and saw the names of Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep and they checked the box and then they put their kids in the car to go see Spiderman. And they loved the movie! But they didn’t vote for him,” the host added.

Spider-Man: No Way Home earned only one Oscar nomination, in the visual effects category. Don’t Look Up is in the running for four statuettes, including that of the best film. The Power of the Dogby Jane Campion, tops the list with twelve nominations. Dunes by Denis Villeneuve is nominated in ten categories.

The Oscars ceremony will be held on March 27 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
