(Ottawa) Crowdfunding site GoFundMe will explain to MPs the measures it has in place to prevent the funding of extremism.

NDP MP Alistair MacGregor announced Thursday that representatives of the site have accepted a request to appear before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security.
Mr. MacGregor introduced the motion and advised that they will be appearing on March 3rd.
The announcement comes as a convoy of protesters against mandatory vaccinations and COVID-19 health restrictions enters its second week on Parliament Hill, clogging surrounding streets.
Donors have raised more than 10 million for the protesters via the GoFundMe site, which announced last week that it was ending the fundraising campaign, saying the money would be returned.
The site said it initially thought the protest was going to be a peaceful event, but withdrew its support once it realized it had become an “occupation”.
The organizers of the convoy quickly set up a new campaign on the Christian fundraising site GiveSendGo, which has already raised 8.2 million.
