Beginning of the shooting of Le Plongeur, by Francis Leclerc

On Monday, director Francis Leclerc will start filming the Diveradaptation of the novel published in 2016 by Stéphane Larue.

Written by Leclerc and Eric K. Boulianne, the film has an impressive cast led by Henri Picard in the lead role of Stéphane. Charles-Aubey Houde, Joan Hart, Maxime De Cotret, Fayolle Jean Jr, Robin L’Houmeau and Marie-Ève ​​Beauregard are also among the actors selected by director Leclerc.

The Diver tells the story of a young metal music lover who dreams of becoming an illustrator, but who sinks into the spiral of gambling. In debt, he takes a job as a dishwasher in a restaurant in order to get by, discovering life high-energy restaurant as the holiday season approaches.

“When my publisher, five years ago, confirmed to me that The Diver would be adapted to the cinema, I was delighted, but it seemed distant, unreal to me, declared in a press release the author Stéphane Larue, who is currently completing the first draft of his second novel. Last December, before the holidays, Francis Leclerc and Eric K. Boulianne invited me to dinner to unveil the cast, more than two years after the end of the meetings around the screenplay. The feeling of unreality was gone. Today I feel a kind of joyful feverishness. »

The shooting of Le Plongeur will continue in Montreal until March 31, the team in front will meet for two additional days on May 24 and 25. The feature film will be released in 2023.
