Spa treatments are breathing again after being hit hard by restrictions linked to the Covid-19 epidemic. The season is slowly picking up.
Marie-Jeanne Chesneau and her husband were waiting for him impatiently. Prevented last year, these spa guests can finally enjoy their thermal baths inAix-les-Bains (Savoy). “We have been doing the cure, my husband and I, for about ten years. Last year we couldn’t do it, and we missed it a lot“, confides Marie-Jeanne Chesneau.
Across France, the spa season is resuming after two years of restrictions and closures. These forced breaks caused attendance to drop by nearly two-thirds. In February, the Thermes de Marlioz, in Aix-les-Bains, are not yet full. “We are roughly around 30% lower than what we used to do. Last year, we finished at -50%, so we are rather optimistic. The spa guests are gradually returning“, highlighted Florian Hugonet, general manager of the Thermes de Marlioz. Thermal establishments suffered 110 million euros in losses in 2020.
