COVID-19: Quebec reports 56 new deaths

Fifty-six new deaths are reported in Quebec on Tuesday, as hospitalizations continue to decline.

The Ministry of Health indicates that there are currently 2,380 hospitalizations, a decrease of 45 compared to Monday. The number of people in intensive care remained stable at 178.

The death toll now stands at 13,551.

The ministry reports 2,504 new cases, for a total of 885,696 people infected since the start of the pandemic. However, this number is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 69,480 rapid tests have been self-reported on the platform put online by the government so far, including 53,689 positive. For the day on Monday, 1104 tests were declared, including 828 positive.

The Ministry of Health says 17,855 tests were carried out on Monday. Quebec has a positivity rate of 11%.

With regard to vaccination, 32,507 doses have been administered in Quebec in the last 24 hours.

According to the National Institute of Public Health, 85.7% of the population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those aged 12 and over, 92.5% have received at least one dose and 90.3% are adequately vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 48% of people aged 5 and over have received a third dose of vaccine.
