In 2003, a duo appeared on the radio. Called “Tragedy”, it is made up of two young men, Thierry and Damien Fall, two brothers. Very hip-hop look of the 2000s, RnB style music, the two artists are a real hit when the single “Hey Oh” hits the shelves. Invited on TV sets, concerts in a room overflowing with fans, the Nantes duo managed to stay in everyone’s mind.
Following this first single, Tizy and Silky, their stage names, also released “Sexy for me”, which generated an incredible number of sales, but also “Gentleman” and “Eternally”. But unfortunately, their duo was not made to last forever, and died in 2005. A short presence, but that no one has ever forgotten. It is also very common to hear one of their music in nightclubs and karaoke rooms!
Almost 15 years later, the band finally decided to reform as “Bony and Az”. Invited to the Hit Machine set on February 8 on M6, they agreed to give an interview to Gala to talk about their journey and their new ambitions. The question of the success of the title “Hey Oh” is obviously the first, to which Bony specifies that they have never sought “to pierce. If the Tragédie group has worked so well, it’s probably because of our simplicity. We wanted to show the public that it was possible to achieve this even from scratch.”. But according to Az, it was above all the talent that paid off, “At the time, there was not all this digital side. We couldn’t cheat. You had to know how to sing otherwise it was dead.”
A small detail that Bony also wishes to clarify. Nostalgic for the 2000s, the singer regrets the fact that today some singers don’t really sing, “At that time it sang much more than now. We listened to real bands, like the Boyz II Men, Usher. It was singing.”
