In the video, the 27-year-old footballer is seen slapping his pet, before grabbing him and throwing him across the kitchen. The France international is then filmed throwing a pair of shoes at the animal as it tries to escape.
Images that have scandalized Internet users on social networks. Especially since the footballer proudly indicates that he is an ambassador for the charity seedwhich raises funds for a refuge for big cats.
His club, West Ham strongly condemned the actions of his player in the video, and confirmed that he would take care of this matter. “West Ham United unreservedly condemns the actions of our player, Kurt Zouma, in the video that has been circulated. We have spoken to Kurt and will deal with the matter internally, but would like to make it clear that we do not tolerate cruelty in any way towards animals”.
The former Chelsea and Saint-Etienne player has since issued an apology insisting it was an isolated incident.
In a statement sent to sky newshe stated: “I want to apologize for my actions. There is no excuse for my behavior, which I sincerely regret. I also want to say how sorry I am to everyone who was upset by the video. I would like to assure everyone that our two cats are perfectly fine and healthy. They are loved and cherished by our entire family, and this behavior was an isolated incident that will not happen again.”
