The scandal of abuse in nursing homes continues to splash other private groups. Many testimonies now accuse the Korian group, the first in the sector. A class action lawsuit by the families will be filed next April.
At the Ephad, his father lived through months of suffering. Sylvie Bardelle, daughter of a former resident of a Korian nursing home, says she found her father injured several times. Moreover, his bed was not adapted to his size and he often told her that he was hungry. “He fell several times so he had bandages on. He fell in the bathroom, we didn’t pick him up right away (…) because he wanted to change to be clean”, she reports. She is also the one who has to wash and change it when she pays more than 3,500 euros per month.
Like her, many families are coming out of the shadows to testify to the mistreatment in Ehpad Korian. Attorney Sarah Saldmann has already received around thirty complaints. She denounces “fractures where families were not informed, sometimes even strokes discovered a month later”. The management of the group rejects “vigorously” these accusations of abuse.
