(Montreal) A major fire occurred in downtown Montreal overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
The commercial building that was engulfed in flames, located on Sainte-Catherine Street West, seemed unoccupied according to the Service de police de la Vile de Montréal (SPVM).
“The fire raged much of the night and businesses in the area had to be evacuated preventively,” said SPVM spokesperson Véronique Comtois.
The cause of the fire is unknown and the investigation was transferred to investigators from the SPVM’s arson module.
