Investing in our championship is better”writes the striker six times champion of France with Olympique Lyonnais.
The French Women’s Football Championship “is picking up”according to Ada Hegerberg who claims that the World Cup already organized in France in 2019 “had no impact”. “Changing mentalities takes a long time. Organizing a competition and not following up is not doing the job. We also have a lot of responsibilities as players.”

The French Football Federation is regularly criticized for its lack of investment in women’s football. On January 29, OL were eliminated in the round of 16 of the Women’s French Cup by PSG (0-3), in a match played in front of around 500 spectators at Camp des Loges, while that the Jean-Bouin stadium and the Parc des Princes were already used for other matches.
Last Thursday, the Federation announced its candidacy for the organization of the Women’s Euro in 2025, ensuring that it “will build on the success of hosting the Women’s World Cup” of 2019. The designation of the host country is expected in ten months, next December.
