Quebec is updating its aerospace strategy and plans to invest $334 million by 2024.
The government estimates that the Québec Aerospace Strategy (SQA) Horizon 2026 will enable the realization of $2.8 billion in investment.
The strategy, unveiled on Monday, revolves around three areas of intervention: innovation, diversification of the industry, particularly in the defense sector, and contribution to the international influence of companies.
“We provide the necessary tools to ensure the sector’s progress and solidify its position on the international scene,” commented Economy Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon in a press release. It will generate solid spinoffs in terms of growth, competitiveness and job retention in Québec. »
The news was well received by Suzanne Benoit, President and CEO of Aéro Montréal, who participated in the announcement. “Thanks to the SQA and the continued support of the Government of Quebec, our sector will be able to exploit its full potential and further strengthen its position as a leader on the world stage,” she responded in a press release.
The policy was born out of a consultation process. In all, 24 briefs were provided to the government, resulting in more than 90 recommendations.
