It is also a historic first medal for Canada in ski jumping, all events combined.

The Canadian team composed of Alexandria Loutitt, Matthew Soukup, Abigail Strate and Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes accumulated a total of 844.6 points. It ranks behind Slovenia (1001.5 points) and the Russian Olympic Committee (890.3 points).

It is also a second gold medal at these Games for the Slovenian Ursa Bogataj, who was crowned champion in the individual event.

This medal is all the sweeter for Canadian skiers, since the facilities for practicing this sport in the country are practically unusable. The module built for the Calgary Games in 1988 is not maintained. Athletes need to find another place to train.

The Canadian team therefore settled in Slovenia, which has a history of excellence in this sport.

They will now have the big end of the stick to advocate for more funding for ski jumping in Canada.
