After the scandal of Orpea retirement homes, another private French group is in the sights of justice: Korian. A new collective procedure could be launched. Since the publication of the book “Les Fossoyeurs”, the word on abuse in nursing homes continues to be released.
It is one of the worst experiences of his life. Ludivine Leroy worked in a private nursing home in Pas-de-Calais. She was a carer and abused in spite of herself. To save time, he was asked to wash the residents in the middle of the night. “But we don’t do this to anyone, only people with Alzheimer’s disease”, she says. She is even asked to withdraw infusions, a medical procedure for which she was not trained.
Marie Poette, meanwhile, will long remember the tears of her mother, a former resident of an associative Ehpad. His mother regularly complained about the lack of care. Like her, many families today bear witness to this ill-treatment and more and more of them are filing complaints. “There is not a day when we do not receive a family call”, assures Me Fabien Arakelian, lawyer for families of residents in Ehpad. The latter filed a complaint against several establishments for manslaughter and endangering the lives of others.
