Patrick Balkany, the former mayor of Levallois-Perret (Hauts-de-Seine), is summoned Monday, February 7 at 10 a.m. by the public prosecutor of Évreux (Eure), after the revocation Thursday of his placement under bracelet electronic by justice, learned franceinfo Sunday from his entourage, confirming information from BFMTV. This revocation opens the way to incarceration.
Isabelle Balkany, his wife, is also affected by this revocation of the Rouen Court of Appeal. However, she was hospitalized on Thursday, her lawyer Pierre-Olivier Sur announced to France Télévisions, after a suicide attempt according to her husband Patrick Balkany.
The dismissal follows a hundred incidents that caused their bracelets to ring at the Moulin de Cossy, their residence in Giverny (Eure) where they have been under house arrest under electronic surveillance since March 2021. Sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion, Isabelle and Patrick Balkany had obtained an adjustment of sentence.
According to Dominique Puechmaille, public prosecutor of Evreux, by not respecting the obligations imposed by their house arrest in their property, the Balkany spouses “wanted to play with fire”she explained on franceinfo. “In reality, they never wanted to respect this bracelet, the schedules, the obligations, the perimeter, etc. There were several reframings and hardly any improvements”she detailed.
