Daesh leader killed in US military operation

Abu al-Qurachi, the leader of Daesh killed by a US military operation, had been at the head of the organization since the death of his mentor, al-Baghdadi, in October 2019. The American commando first tried to capture him living. “We saw helicopters flying overhead, and after 10 minutes we heard soldiers shouting in English: ‘surrender, the house is surrounded‘”, testifies a resident.

Jihadists respond with heavy gunfire for about fifteen minutes, then comes a dull explosion inside the house: the leader of Daesh blew himself up, killing his wife and three children at the same time. 13 people are said to have died in total.
