COVID-19 | Kamala Harris received her third dose of vaccine

(Washington) U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris received her booster dose of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday, urging eligible people to do the same.

“I have received my booster dose and I want to encourage everyone to do so if they are eligible,” she said after being vaccinated by a member of the White House medical team.

“We have been saying it from the start, they are free, safe and they will save your life,” she added of the vaccines.

“The vast majority – I’m told well over 90% – of people in intensive care or who die from COVID-19 are not vaccinated. So let’s get vaccinated and we’ll get out of this pandemic, ”she added.

The United States deplores more than 745,000 deaths from COVID-19.

Mme Harris, 57, had received his first two injections in December 2020 and January 2021, according to the White House.

She “meets the criteria for a booster dose” because she is considered a “person at risk of exposure to COVID-19 because of her duties” by traveling frequently and meeting many people, said the US presidency. .

The booster dose of Moderna’s vaccine is actually half a dose (50 micrograms versus 100 for the initial two injections).

US President Joe Biden, 78, received his third dose of the vaccine live on television on September 27 to encourage eligible Americans to do the same.

Nearly 80% of U.S. adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine, about 70% are fully immunized, and 9% have had their booster shots since it was cleared in September.
