Rescuers are still active this Friday, February 4, for the fourth consecutive day, in the hope of extracting alive little Rayan, a five-year-old boy who fell into a deep well in a village in northern Morocco, the kingdom holding his breath. The ballet of mechanical machines deployed to clear the ground around the 32-meter-deep well did not stop overnight. According to local authorities, the bulldozers have already dug up to 28 meters deep and preparations are underway to dig a horizontal gap of a few meters towards the well to reach the small Rayan. The operation is very complex due to the nature of the soil, lamination of sandy layers and other rocky ones. According to Le 360, which follows the progress of the operations live, a landslide occurred in the parallel hole, not far from the well where the child is stuck.

The boy, whose fate is moving the whole country and beyond, accidentally fell on the afternoon of February 1 into the dry well, narrow and difficult to access, dug near the family residence in a village not far from the locality of Bab Berred, in the province of Chefchaouen. According to local media, Rayan would have given signs of life this Friday afternoon.

According to the MAP news agency, a medical team was dispatched to the scene to “carry out initial examinations and resuscitation interventions to the child once rescued” and a medical helicopter from the Royal Gendarmerie is on site to take care of him.

The ordeal of little Rayan arouses a lot of sympathy and solidarity on social networks. For the second day in a row, the hashtag #sauvezrayan (#أنقذوا_ريان, in Arabic) is among the top trends on Twitter in Morocco. Many personalities, such asMoroccan international and PSG star Achraf Hakimi, expressed their solidarity. The direct broadcasts of several Moroccan media are followed minute by minute by hundreds of thousands of Internet users, hanging on to the fate of the child.
