The Bête Noire series on French TV

Black beast will be broadcast in France. Starring Isabelle Blais as a grieving mother trying to understand why her 16-year-old son committed a mass murder in high school, the series will air on Polar+Monday in its original version.

The Canal+ Group also acquired Black beast for all French-speaking countries, including Africa, teaches us Encore Television (Runaway, The beautiful discomforts), the Quebec production company behind the crime thriller/psychological drama.

Crowned Best Drama Series at the last Gémeaux Awards, Black beast will also be broadcast in Poland.

These new agreements are in addition to those entered into with SBS in Australia, NRK in Norway and Link. television in the United States.

In a press release issued Thursday, the director of Polar+, Louisa Boughias, salutes the achievement of Sophie Deraspe (Antigone) and the “shattering plot”.

Written by Patrick Lowe (Premonitions, The Whole Truth) and Annabelle Fish (Runaway, The Breakaway), Black beast was broadcast in the spring of 2021 on Séries Plus. The chain had injected a lot of money into this production. Including the additional costs related to filming in a pandemic, we are talking about a budget of more than a million per episode. In general, Quebec dramas benefit from an envelope of $500,000/hour. These additional sums, which appeared on the screen, certainly helped the series to attract foreign buyers.

In addition to Isabelle Blais, Stéphane Gagnon, Marine Johnson, Sophie Cadieux and Martin Dubreuil appear in the credits.
