Rémy Riou is preparing to play his seventy-fifth match this Saturday in Nancy in the colors of SM Caen. This season, the Norman goalkeeper is the only player in the squad to have taken part in all league matches. He only gave up his place during the Coupe de France against Dinan-Léhon (1-1, 4-1 TAB).
The Caen goalkeeper has for several months been often questioned by supporters, whether on social networks or during 100% Stade Malherbe on Monday. Sometimes (very) clear-cut opinions, which his coach disapproves of.
“Let everyone have their opinion and their idea, that’s democracy, willingly observes Stéphane Moulin. Afterwards, I am on a daily basis with the goalkeeper coach and with my staff. We see what happens in training. We see how the players behave and the level they display. You can well imagine that if I had felt that there was another guard… It often happened to me to change guards but here, I find that there is a trial which, for the moment, does not have to be. But again everyone is free. There is no ambiguity on the subject.”
I find that there is a lawsuit which for the moment does not take place.
The fact that the Cherbourgeois Sullivan Péan played the last matches of last season may also explain why some supporters want to see him take the place of Rémy Riou and exacerbate the criticism. Reviews that Rémy Riou says he does not hear or read.
“I’m not on any social network so I can’t say what people think of me. Everyone has an opinion on everyone. Human beings are like that. I’m going to have a twenty-year career. It’s even been a little over twenty years because at the training center, we are also judged. I am judged every day, even at home. We are judged by our children and our family. That’s life who is like that. You have to disregard all that.”
