“I have just been diagnosed with a tumor in the lung, a not very sympathetic cancerous tumor which cannot be operated on, so I have to go into a 6 month protocol of chemotherapy and X-rays“. It is with this simple and honest message that Florent Pagny announced on January 25 to his fans, to be suffering from cancer.
When he had just started a new concert tour to celebrate his 60th birthday, the singer was forced to interrupt it and took care to apologize to his fans. A week after this very sad announcement, Florent Pagny confides in the columns of the magazine Paris Match. The opportunity for him to confide that he first believed “in a severe Covid” with “sudden fatigue” and “cough that does not go away”… The diagnosis was finally given to him in mid-January, one day where he was filming the new season of “The Voice”.
Fortunately, Florent Pagny is well surrounded and is supported by the one who has shared his life for 30 years, his wife Azucena Caamaño. A friend of the couple also reports to Paris Match that from the start of their relationship, the two lovebirds had made a pact: “She will be the woman of his life, the mother of his children, but for that she will have to give up working, agree to live in his shadow. In exchange for which Florent will take care of everything.”.
A pact which would certainly be the secret of the longevity of their couple, at a time when many duos separate after a few years spent together. Having become parents of a boy named Inca in 1996 and a girl named Aël in 1999, Florent Pagny and Azucena quickly made the decision to leave to live in Patagonia from where they managed the career of the singer. “When Florent’s career restarted, he decided to no longer have a manager and to partner with his wife.“explains a relative.
